Hour by Hour, October 7th, 2023
Why?
Because the truth has become fragmented.
The facts are scattered.
And in social media – the story isn’t being told right.
And most of all –
Even during this ongoing war, October 7th is vanishing from the conversation.
We keep hearing:
“ Yes, October 7th was terrible… but…”
But Gaza.
But politics.
But context.
There is no “but”.
Massacres.
Rapes.
Burnings.
Kidnappings.
Children murdered.
Parents slaughtered in front of their children.
This is not a footnote.
This is where it all began.
This is the rupture.
A wound that will never fully heal.
But we cannot stay silent.
We must:
Speak.
Document.
Remember.
For the victims.
For their families.
For history.
Because if we don’t tell it –
Hour by hour,
Name by name –
The world will forget.
WE KEEP TRYING:
TO FIT OCTOBER 7TH INTO A SINGLE REEL.
Attempts were made
to contain thousands of moments –
of terror, courage, loss –
into something small.
Something watchable.
Something holdable.
But one truth remains:
A national trauma cannot be compressed.
Burned homes.
Fallen soldiers.
Last phone calls.
Missing children.
Entire kibbutzim erased.
A nation shattered.
These do not fit into one frame.
Still, the effort continues –
not because it’s possible,
but because it must.
This reel can’t hold every place,
every hero, every nightmare –
but it offers a glimpse
into the day that changed Israel forever.
The last hour:
an attempt to hold the unimaginable
so it is never forgotten.
